Benches
Terms of Service
Last updated June 14, 2026
These terms govern your use of Benches, an applicant tracking platform that law firms use to post roles and manage hiring. They apply when you browse a careers page hosted on Benches or submit an application to a role. By using Benches, you agree to these terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old and legally permitted to work to apply for a role through Benches. By applying, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
Our role
Benches provides the software that hosts a firm’s careers page and receives applications. We do not make hiring decisions, employ candidates, or control the roles that firms post. The hiring firm is solely responsible for its job postings, its evaluation of candidates, and any employment relationship that results.
Your application and information
You agree that the information you submit is accurate, current, and your own, and that you have the right to share it. Do not impersonate anyone, submit another person’s information without permission, or include unlawful or misleading content. The hiring firm relies on your application, and inaccurate information may affect its consideration.
Acceptable use
When using Benches, you agree not to:
- Submit false, fraudulent, or spam applications
- Upload malware or files intended to harm the platform or its users
- Attempt to access accounts, applications, or data that are not yours
- Probe, scrape, overload, or disrupt the service or its security controls
- Use Benches for any unlawful purpose
Content you submit
You keep ownership of the content you submit, such as your résumé and answers. By submitting an application, you grant Benches and the relevant hiring firm permission to store, display, and process that content for the purpose of operating the platform and evaluating your application, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Intellectual property
Benches, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by us and protected by applicable law. Firm logos, names, and job content belong to the respective firms. These terms do not grant you any rights to use those marks except as needed to use the service normally.
No guarantee of employment
Submitting an application does not guarantee a response, an interview, or a job. Hiring decisions rest entirely with the firm that posted the role.
Service availability
We work to keep Benches available and reliable, but we provide the service “as is” and do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Benches is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including any hiring outcome or any firm’s use of your application. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above. Continued use of Benches after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Benches operates, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Specific governing law and venue should be set before these terms are relied upon.
